About the Chamber
Nowata Chamber of Commerce
The purpose of the Nowata Chamber is to promote and develop the
commercial, agricultural, industrial, educational, economic, social and
moral interests of Nowata County. The Chamber works with city and
county officials to promote and enhance the future of Nowata County.
The organization is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected
at large from the membership. The 2009 Board includes: President
John Woolman, Vice President John Woodworth, Treasurer Maggie
Blevins, Directors Kevin Thomas, Doug Maddux, Gary Yarbrough,
Frances Sanders, and Phil Ogden, Past Mayor, Tom Roane, City of
Nowata and Fred Barrowman, Associate member representative. Billie
Roane serves as Executive Director/Secretary.
The Chamber sponsors and participates in several events and
programs throughout the year including the Chamber Membership
Annual Banquet, AEP/PSO Thank You Luncheon, Spring Stock
Show, Annual Egg Hunt, Senior Citizen Day, Nowata Junque Arte
Festival, Wild Turkey Fest & 4th of July Celebration, City Wide and
KAN OKLA 100 Mile Yard Sale, Nowata County Fair, Downtown Trick or
Treat, Veteran’s Day , Lights On! Celebration, , Christmas Parade and
Merchant Promotion
The Chamber is a member of the Green Country Marketing Association,
the Nowata Historical Society, and is also active with the work of the
Nowata Beautification Committee, Opry Theater Board, Nowata Public
Schools, Industrial committees, Agricultural and OSU Extension
activities.
The Chamber continually and actively seeks out opportunities to
present Nowata as a place for business to start up or relocate . In
addition, it provides information to newcomers and visitors to the
community. The Chamber provides an online community calendar of
events as well as event promotion through the park marquis.
Chamber membership is open to businesses, churches, non profit and
individuals with varying membership investment fees. Anyone
interested in membership may visit the chamber office at 126 S. Maple ,
Mon-Fri, 9:00-1:00 or call 918 273 2301 or email at
